“A Stepping Stone In The Right Direction”

Leyton Orient defender Sam Ling insists his side need to get points on the board ahead of the trip to Mansfield Town on Tuesday. The O’s are looking to arrest their away form after losing both away games this season and Ling is confident his side can do that at Field Mill. Speaking to leytonorient.com it’s another away one Tuesday. We know every game is going to be tough but we know what we are capable of and are confident heading into every game so hopefully we will come out with some points”.

Orient’s Next Six Games

Orient bounced back from two consecutive defeats with a 0-0 draw with Stevenage on Saturday. Interim head coach Ross Embleton was left frustrated after his side drew a blank for the third successive game stating to leytonorient.comI 100% felt we prepared to a level today that looked like we deserved three points. There are not many other way of describing it”.

Orient’s Last Four Results

Following promotion from the National League last season, Ling feels that Saturday’s result is the perfect building block going forward. Speaking on his sides performance to leytonorient.com “the boys were good today, strong at the back, strong in the middle and strong in attack. But unfortunate not to come away with all three points. We got a point, a clean sheet and we can build on from now”.

After a failure to put their chances away against Stevenage and Embleton is hoping his side can use that as motivation at Field Mill. Orient have only netted once in their last seven competitive fixtures with Embleton stating to leytonorient.com they got a result today and a are a good team. They have a big budget, are a big team in this league and we know it will be tough. We need to all hold on to this frustration in some sort of way”.

  • Orient have failed to score in last three away league games
  • Last three away goals have all been from set pieces

Orient’s only goal of the season came courtesy of Josh Wright in their opening game but despite the strikers drawing a blank so far, Embleton was keen to take the positives going forward. Speaking to leytonorient.com I suppose I have to look at in the last couple of games we have not created a lot of chances and haven’t looked a huge threat in the final third. Today we did, my job is to take the good parts to move forward”

  • Orient have not lost their opening three away games of a season since 2006

The O’s have been backed well so far this season and it shouldn’t be any different in Mansfield. Embleton was quick to praise the supporters after Saturday’s draw highlighting the expectations in the season. Speaking to leytonorient.com they were fantastic today, this club has been used to winning in last year to 18 months. We have moved up a level and we are not going to win every week. I know today was frustrating for everyone but going up a level we need to make sure we are at it every day and do things at the highest level”.
